Nov 22: Football

Football isn't on TV every day, but games are played every day, whether they are kick abouts in the playground at school, international matches or matches played with makeshift footballs on bare earth with no grass. There have been many photography books related to football too.

It's worth getting a copy of 'Twenty Football Towns' by Steve Leach which explores the connections between sport and people's identity - serious football fans have a personal geography and mental map of the country built around football grounds and away match travel plans...

The book also has a good introduction by geographer and place writer David Cooper.
