Jun 7: Lonely this Christmas?

For some people everyday can be a battle against loneliness.

The pandemic has increased this issue for many, cutting people off from social contact, and also their family.

Even before then, there were signs that people were becoming isolated.

Zooms have replaced meetings.

Peloton has replaced an actual cycle ride on a road with friends.

Just Eat offers the chance to have a takeaway for one delivered to your house rather than going out where you might interact with others and maybe even make a connection.

A book by Noreena Hertz explores this theme. It is called 'The Lonely Century'. I've just started to read it, partly to begin to inform some work for this blog and my Presidential year. There is plenty of insight in it.
