Jun 16: An ordinary day

Consider the word 'ordinary': it could be used as a synonym for the everyday... I've taken it that way for my theme - the quotidian is a related word.

It was also mentioned as a theme in a recent service that was led by Dr. Ros Lane, the Chaplain at my school who explored the link between the words 'ordinary' and 'ordination'....

Ordinal (in mathematical terms) means 'in order', or a sequence...

Ordination involves joining an order: there are three levels of ordination: Deacon, then Priest and then Bishop.

A final meaning can also be seen in the definition above, linked to ecology (or biogeography). I've certainly used that method to explore zonation of plant on Stiffkey saltmarsh during previous fieldwork visits.
