Mar 18: On the road

A daily occurrence if driving is to encounter a slow lorry.... consider for a while what is being carried in that lorry. It is most likely to be carrying food. It may be carrying items which you will use at some point that same day or in the days ahead. Some lorries drive at fixed speed for fuel efficiency, and transport planners work out optimum routes, and optimum locations for distribution warehouses or fulfilment centres.

Some years ago, I wrote a resource for the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport.

One of the sections explored road haulage and it's a reminder that these vehicles drive our lives with their vital role in logistics and food delivery in particular.
