Today marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Orcadian poet George Mackay Brown.
I have a large collection of his books on the shelves. A poet steeped in a place: Stromness, which he restyled as Hamnavoe.
He spent his life writing about his home and its history and mythology.
Seek him out. Start perhaps with one of his collections of newspaper columns such as 'Under Brinkie's Brae' or his story collections such as 'Winter Tales'.
