Aug 2: Desert Island Geographies

Imagine being stranded on a desert island.

This is the premise of Desert Island Discs.

"I now think of myself as a bit more like a geographer really. I work in an area we call environmental humanities, as an academic and as a teacher where nature and culture meet, and landscape and politics, environmentalism and the anthropocene all intermingle with each other..."

"Landscape absolutely shapes and sculpts us..."

I enjoyed listening to this very much.

I enjoyed listening to Robert MacFarlane on Desert Island Discs.

There are few other geographers that have featured. L Dudley Stamp was featured in 1963 but only a small extract remains.

There is a huge archive of previous programmes which is worth exploring...
