Apr 29: Impact of transport and shipping

The Tyndall Centre has a range of videos on a range of climate change impacts.

The impacts of the climate emergency will become our daily reality before too long, if they haven't already...

We all move around the planet, whether travelling locally or further afield. Many of us may not have flown during 2020, but there are signs that many of us will want to travel widely once the pandemic is receding, whenever that may be - and there will be global hotspots for some years to come... and our goods come to us on container ships...

International emissions of CO2 are currently no individual country’s responsibility. Aviation and shipping are often grouped together, as facing comparable challenges, but their strengths and weaknesses are really very different. There are lots of opportunities for decarbonising shipping, we can make ships big and slow and use renewables to save energy but it is the shipping industry’s complexity that is its greatest barrier to change.
