Scan the TV schedules and you'll see a Western on the film channels. Perhaps it will be a John Ford classic such as 'The Searchers'... whenever that is on, I have to drop everything and watch it. Even more recent films in the genre such as the Coen Brothers 'Ballad of Buster Scruggs' had their opening film set there.
Why did the area around Monument Valley become so iconic in these films so that many people would be able to recognise the mesas and buttes immediately.
